Can Elon Also Buy Medium? Please.
Here’s why.
After concluding the purchase of Twitter, Musk surprisingly declared that he had no financial incentives in the company, and that he only bought it as a way to push back against the censorship established by big tech to control the mainstream narrative.
Whether he is saying the truth or not remains to be seen.
Twitter has a lot of potential, but the people that’ve been managing it since its inception in 2006 have proven to reach a level of incompetence difficult to equal.
As a result, Musk is unlikely to do worse than they did.
Medium isn’t nearly as popular as Twitter, but both platforms share similar problems that exasperate their users and eventually drive them out.
Here’s what I’d like Elon to do if he ever bought Medium.
1. Fix the Tech
I have blocked and muted almost 150 writers that write the same type of hateful and low-quality content, yet Medium keeps on showing me similar pieces.
In times when AI can understand the tone and topic of a text, the Medium team isn’t entitled to any excuses.
Especially since, as we will see, the algorithm is very, very good at other tasks it shouldn’t be good at.
