I Turned Down $3.3k for a Guest Post on My Blog

Here’s why.

I have been getting offers for guest posting on my blog for a little over two years now.

I have declined every single one of them because it breaks Google’s SEO guidelines most of the time, and because it felt wrong toward my audience.

Usually brands would offer anywhere from $30 to $650 for a guest post.

Until a few days ago when an agency offered $3.3k.

Now, that’s a lot of money.

But I still declined.

Here’s why.

1. It Would Hurt My Reputation

The original idea of my blog was to build a website that’d be ad and popup free where anyone could come learn and stay as much as they wanted.

The point wasn’t to make money with it but to learn SEO and content writing.

It felt nice the first time I received an offer for a guest post and I genuinely considered it.

But it felt wrong. I didn’t want to be a blogger who’d milk every page view for cash.

This kinda felt desperate too.
