It's a good article, clearly written and well-argued. But I disagree. Airbnb is not going anywhere, they'll just have to change and adapt their business model a little. Let's take Uber as an example. Uber has a driver problem as long as drivers exist...when drivers will disappear (and they will), Uber will be profitable. It is similar for Airbnb. Once Airbnb makes its hosts disappear by building (or buying) and managing their own accommodations for example, all the problems you quoted above (prostitution, racism, gun, theft) will disappear. Airbnb suffers because their hosts are not professional hosts, they can't deal with guests problems like hotels do. Once Airbnb professionalizes, they'll thrive.
