Nassim Taleb debunked this by noticing that who was "rich" evolved with time. The idea was that 70% of the population would be a part of the 10% at some point in their lives (dont remember the exact numbers), but nobody understands that because economists have yet to include the notion of dynamism within their field.

And once again, it is not socio-economic inequality that matters, but poverty level.

You dont create wealth by taking it from those who make it, but by getting those who don't to make it.
